Nils Lofgren, the former Grin guitarist and vocalist, has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band for decades. In the mid-'70s, both men held the future of rock 'n' roll in their hands along with their guitars. When you listen to 'Cry Tough', a CD reissue co-produced by Al Kooper, you'll encounter the rock anthems and biting guitar licks for which Nils is famous, both as a soloist and E Street Band member. Each song features a top-notch solo from Lofgren, and they all rock! The band is excellent, with fine contributions from Al Kooper on organ, Aynsley Dunbar and Jim Gordon on drums, and backing vocals by P.P. Arnold, Claudia Lennear, and Buddy Miles.
